GROB FAMILY BACKYARD DECK
In these warm-weather months, there’s nothing like a festive cookout on a backyard deck to entertain our friends and family. However, doing so on a traditional wood-built version can become a chore with the hassles of cleaning, staining and repairing warped boards. The homeowners of our featured project knew just that. The once small-scale, painted wood deck would be transformed into a much larger, multi-level, composite outdoor space. This would be just right for their frequent backyard get-togethers. The hot tub that once occupied the space to the left of the sunroom was relocated to the right hand side, just below one of the new levels. This opened up the expanse of space surrounding the sunroom allowing not only a larger deck, but also a better flow of traffic. Benches and flower boxes were custom built giving the area dimension and eye appeal, not to mention functionality. And although it may have been multiplied in size, the upkeep of their deck has incredibly decreased (this translates to more time enjoying their space and less time fretting over it). The great thing about composite decking is you can get the look of wood without the labor that it requires. The benefits for the environment aren’t half bad either since composites are made from recycled materials. And because of it’s long life, these homeowners will be enjoying their deck for years to come!
