MOORE FAMILY PROJECT PHASE 2:
TWO STORY ADDITION
In the midst of a kitchen remodel & porch addition at the Moore residence, plans were also in full swing for a two-story addition. The first floor art studio and second floor master suite & bath would be added to the right side of the home and referred to as “Phase 2”. This addition was like no other and definitely proved the versatility of The Remodeling Company crew. Opening up the exterior wall of the family room to a first floor art studio would mean plenty of creative space as well as added home value. Mrs. Moore, who does pottery as a hobby, wanted it built to suit her needs with the option of converting the space later if they decide to sell the home. The studio’s open floor plan, flooded in sunlight by means of several windows and two exterior doors, also houses a water closet where the potter’s kiln is connected. Since plumbing lines and ventilation are already in place, this space can also be converted to a full bath with ease. The hallway leading to the staircase (sandwiched between the new studio and existing family room) was also built in a unique fashion. A staggered-depth wall was requested by the Moore’s so they could creatively showcase prized art. The staircase, of course, leads to the second-floor master suite and bath. All of Phase 2 was to be built merely as a shell with the interior finishes later added as Phase 3. We’ll talk more in depth about these interior finishes and details in next month’s newsletter. |
