OUR SHOWCASE

MOORE FAMILY PROJECT PHASE 3:
ART STUDIO & MASTER BEDROOM

Showcased in last month’s edition of The Remodeling Company’s newsletter was Phase 2 of the Moore residence.  As mentioned previously, this was the shell of a two-story addition which included an art studio and master suite & bath.  Before completion, the Moore’s decided to move ahead with Phase 3 to include all of the interior finishes as well as a few extras.

When we use the term “interior finishes” in regards to a project, it can mean flooring, lighting, trim, paint, etc.  For Phase 3 of the Moore home it meant all of the above.  The walls were painted in shades of color selected by Mrs. Moore to reflect her unique style.  The hallway’s saw-tooth wall is a great example.  Each section was painted a different shade of blue and paintings were hung to match.  (This saw-tooth technique also proved functional on the opposite side of the wall where the art studio is located.  Shelves were built into the staggered depths to hold art supplies and finished pottery.)

The second-floor master suite became a media room complete with a big screen television and remote-controlled blinds.  A wall cabinet with a sink and built-in dishwasher & microwave serve as a wet bar.  (Of course this room can easily be converted to a master suite if they so desire.)

The large master bathroom holds a set of double vessel sinks with specialty faucets, a jetted tub and a standing shower with three shower heads.  Aside from the specialty fixtures, personalization of the bathroom really came from Mrs. Moore’s hand-made tiles that we were able to use for the tub deck and shower walls.  Now that’s specialty!

In addition to these finishes, an existing home office was remodeled for better function and a basic update.  Outside the home, the Remco crew put in a custom-built cedar fence to enclose the back yard.

When all came to completion in the spring of 2008, The Remodeling Company hosted an open house on the property.  Neighbors, family, friends, and those who were involved in the different phases of construction attended.  Slideshows were setup and “tours” were given to show the home’s evolution over the course of three phases of work.
