Emergency Remodel in Norfolk
Sometimes a Remodel Job is a Necessity

When you hear the word “remodel” you may be inclined to picture that spa-like bathroom you’ve always dreamed of or a fresh new kitchen with state of the art appliances. For some homeowners, though, a remodel may not be planned or expected, but rather a matter of getting their home back to a livable state. This homeowner in Norfolk experienced such a case when the nor’easter of November 2009 uprooted a tree and caused significant storm damage.
When The Remodeling Company arrived to install an emergency tarp, there was a tree and a dismembered chimney embedded in the roof. The resulting damage extended through the roof framing and into the interior walls and flooring of the home’s second story. Once the tree and chimney were removed, repairs began on the exterior. This included reframing the damaged areas of the roof and replacing the shingles on the entire rear slope. Siding and guttering were replaced, to match the existing, on the second-story dormer. And of course the chimney was completely rebuilt.
Inside the house, drywall was heavily damaged inside the dormer and over the staircase. Portions of water logged framing and trim had to be replaced, and then new drywall went up. The stairway and dormer walls were repainted in colors selected by the homeowner, and the carpet within the dormer was replaced.
As mentioned before, a remodel can be the result of a “want-to” or a “have-to”. But in either case, The Remodeling Company is here to see the project through!
